Terms
The deal, in plain words
Most platforms bury the part where they take rights to your work. The short version here: you keep everything, we get permission to display it, and that is the whole of it.

Who you are agreeing with
Random Art is an independent platform for publishing and selling original, human-made comics, manga, webtoons and 2D animation. It is operated from Quebec, Canada.
By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms and to the community guidelines. The guidelines describe what may be published here; these terms describe the legal relationship between us.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 to have an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian to agree to these terms for you before subscribing to a paid plan.
You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.
One human, one account. Accounts created to evade a ban are removed.
Your work stays yours
You keep every right you had before you uploaded. Random Art claims no ownership of your work, at any plan, at any time.
To show your work, we need your permission to do specific technical things: store your files, display them on your artist page and in the readers, generate thumbnails and previews, apply the watermark you configured, and show a preview image when someone shares a link to your page.
That permission is non-exclusive, worldwide because the web is, royalty-free because you are not paying us to display your work, and revocable. It ends when you delete the work or your account, apart from copies that may sit in backups or in caches we do not control for a short period afterwards.
We will never sublicense your work to anyone, sell it, use it to train a machine learning model, claim adaptation or merchandising rights, ask for exclusivity, or require a right of first refusal on offers you receive elsewhere. If we ever want to feature your work in promotion beyond your own page, we will ask you first and you are free to say no.
What you promise about what you upload
That the work is yours: your characters, your stories, your worlds, and yours to publish and sell.
That it was made by a human. Work generated by AI is not allowed here, and uploading it is a breach of these terms.
That it is not fan art or built on someone else's copyrighted characters or universe. Random Art takes a share of sales, so publishing work you do not own would put both of us in the path of a copyright claim.
If a claim is made against us because of something you uploaded in breach of these promises, you are responsible for it.
Money
Using Random Art is free. When you sell through the platform, the free plan keeps a flat 10% of each sale and nothing else. Pro keeps 0%.
Pro costs $8 USD per month, billed monthly by Stripe until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your settings and you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial months.
Some artists receive Pro at no charge during the beta. That is a gift, not a contract, and we can end it with reasonable notice.
Payments are processed by Stripe, which is the merchant of record for subscriptions. Stripe's own fees apply to each transaction. Prices are in US dollars and do not include any tax you may owe where you live.
Commissions arranged through the validation gallery are currently paid directly between you and your client, outside the platform. We take nothing on those.
Moderation, removal and appeals
We remove work that breaks the guidelines, and we ban repeat offenders. Content that is illegal, or that sexualizes minors, is removed immediately and permanently with no second chance.
A human reviews every report. If you believe we got it wrong, write to us and say so. We would rather correct a mistake than defend one.
If someone copies your work
Send us the address of the work on Random Art, proof that the original is yours, and how to reach you. We will look at it quickly and remove the work if the claim holds up.
If your work was removed and you believe the claim was wrong, tell us and we will restore it while we sort it out, unless doing so would expose us to an obvious legal risk.
Keep your own copies
We take care of the platform, but no service is immune to failure. Keep your own master files. Nothing here replaces your own backups.
We do not promise the site will never be down or never lose data, and we cannot be held responsible for lost sales or lost time if it happens.
Ending things
You can delete your work or your whole account at any time, from your settings, without asking anyone.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the guidelines. If we close yours without cause, we will refund the unused part of any subscription you paid for.
Limits of our responsibility
Random Art is provided as it is. We do not promise it will fit a particular purpose or that it will earn you money.
If something goes wrong and we are held responsible, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Changes to these terms
When we change something that matters, we will say so on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
Continuing to use Random Art after a change means you accept it. If you do not, you can close your account and we will refund the unused part of your subscription.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the province of Quebec and the laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Quebec.
If you are a consumer somewhere with stronger protections, this does not take those away from you.
